Carla is a self-taught mixed media artist currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her process is intuitive, bold and inquisitive, drawing inspiration through her exploration of color, texture, and pattern to create visual layers.
She is driven by an innate curiosity, finding inspiration at any given moment. It could be to a particular color, shape, line, or just stumbling on a new technique she wants to delve into.
Her work explores the relationships of organic and geometric shapes and how their juxtaposition interacts in space and color. She often incorporates transparent layers of hand printed papers and tissue, which begs the viewer to explore what lies beneath the surface unfolding the mystery one layer after another.
Her work has been featured in multiple international juried exhibitions and in publications such as Vanity Fair UK.
